MERCAA is the Middle East Regional Committee of Alcoholics Anonymous. This regional service group provides workshops, literature, and an annual MERCAA convention.
This year the annual MERCAA convention is taking place in Egypt – and a group conscience from Egypt has voted “more will be revealed,” as our MERCAA theme for 2023.
“We have discovered the joy of helping others to face life again, there will be no stopping until everyone in that town has had his opportunity to recover – if he can and will.”

And the fellowship we crave in each member’s country and MERCAA regional service structure is based on recovery, service, and unity to reach the still suffering alcoholic.
THIS YEAR’S CONVENTION WILL PROVIDE:
1) SPEAKERS: MERCAA members and service representatives to share their experience, strength and hope on our three core concepts of recovery, service, and unity.
2) WORKSHOPS: on Hospitals and Institutions committees to reach our still suffering alcoholics.
3) DISCUSSION: on Literature, specifically the Arabic Big Book that is intended to be published in Egypt after the huge milestone and accomplishment of receiving licensing and rights for publication. The big books accessibility as a tool to recovery will be discussed specifically how each member country with recovering alcoholics relate to the Arabic literature as a tool to recover and receive the intended message of hope.
